The Bibetta story so far...
After the birth of his daughter in 2004, founder Paul Brown, became disillusioned with bibs on the market. They tried all types of bibs but soon found they didn’t perform; they were either too hard, or too difficult to clean, perished easily and got too dirty. As a product inventor and designer, he decided to create his own premium brand of bibs to rectify these issues, and thus, the idea for Bibetta was conceived.
Paul and his family were (and are still!) often to be seen on the coast surfing, and as a keen surfer, Paul was struck with inspiration for the material to use, by the durability of his neoprene wetsuit. It perfectly solved all the issues Paul had been experiencing with his daughter’s bibs; it was waterproof and stain-proof, whilst still being a soft fabric. It was also very important for Paul to ensure the bibs are comfortable for baby to wear, so there were huge benefits for both parents and babies alike! Paul said “It was a perfect solution for families”.
Bibetta’s innovation has gone on to win numerous awards, including most recently Gold at the Mother & Baby Awards. As a team Bibetta are proud to produce a fun range of modern prints and colours for babies at all levels of development, with newborn bibs to weaning bibs and bibs for messy eaters, and even a range of adult clothing protectors and changing mats.
The award-winning neoprene UltraBibs™ have a unique, flip-out pocket which makes them ideal for baby led weaning as babies can easily retrieve their dropped food. To demonstrate the efficiency of these bibs, they were washed daily for twelve months in the machine and tumble dryer and also tested in a local nursery. The results showed that the bibs are virtually indestructible and easy to clean too. What a bonus for busy parents and carers!!
Over a decade later, the company still remains family owned, and Paul's wife, Fiona, also stands at the helm steering the Bibetta ship. They have steadily grown to supply products from small independent shops to major UK high street retailers and further across the world as far as Japan via a number of international distributors.
Paul also says “It makes me really happy to know that many other parents and children can enjoy the comfort and performance advantages of our innovative designs.”
Bibetta is committed to innovating and creating new products for the baby market, keeping things fresh with their new designs, colours and patterns. Check out our new 2019 collection with more to come later on this year!
